Improvement in Africa's Financial Market

Since the day that leadership development took place in Africa, a lot of improvement happened. Different areas in most African countries has shown such progress that are useful not only to their respective countries but also to other nations. One of these days, Africa will become one of the world's leading business place, all because of their breakage into awareness on opportunities inside their region.

Growth in Africa has taken off. According to the IMF or International Monetary Fund, several countries from Africa with developing financial markets that attracts more institutional financial investor are perceived as promising candidates to become part of the second generation of emerging market countries. African countries can now invite more investors to their financial markets because it is easier now to do business deals with them.

Africa's financial market is one of the areas where positive changes were seen. Financial landscape has changed with the growth of stock and bond markets as well as the private equity market. In 1990 there was only 5 stock markets in Africa, but now there are 18. The efforts by the African governments to lessen the political risks, improve institutions and implement more open trade and sound economic policies stimulates the development on banking sector, stock market, private equity market, and bond market.

Financial markets in Africa are opening up because of private sectors. More and more foreign investments are urged to expand their horizons, up to the lands of Africa. The determinants of financial market development in Africa the political risks, policy making, creditor rights protection, income level and financial repression. And the continent has slowly but surely surpassed all of these. A sign that Africa's financial market is transitioning from a complex financial system to a more understandable one.

Before, institutional investors access emerging economies mainly through equity markets or in some cases, foreign currency debt issues. But now, investors are immersed in a wide range of financial activities that includes domestic bond and foreign exchange market instruments.

In the last few decades, most African countries have undergone intense transformation on their financial systems. And efforts are well paid-off today. Traditionally, most African countries are very dependent on the banking system. But since the outbreak of global financial crisis, capital markets played a very prominent role.

Banking system in Africa are now providers of financial needs for any African business. Before they are used to create aids, now they are largely used for trades. The development in Africa's financial market boosts the possibility for more investments. Financial technology has been transferred to the African emerging markets to create more improvement on their system.

Being included in IMF's list of emerging markets is a great recognition. This selection has something to do with the degree of the economical development of the country. Africa has now become an image of opportunities and growth.
